Meet Melissa Kielty, DVM
Dr. Kielty grew up in Massachusetts where she started riding at the age of 6. She went through Pony Club and evented.
After graduating from Bowdoin College she moved to California to complete a Master’s degree in Biology at UC Berkeley. She completed her veterinary degree at UC Davis and moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she completed an Internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery.
She worked in private practice in Baton Rouge for an additional 2 ½ years before moving back to the Bay Area in 1999.
In 2005 Dr. Kielty was chosen to be the Don Low CVMA Fellow in Equine Ultrasound at UC Davis. During this program she had the opportunity to hone her ultrasound skills and improve her ability to diagnose and treat lamenesses.
(Prior to having children Dr. Kielty spent the majority of her free time bringing along a 3 year old Warm Blood mare whom she evented through Preliminary and showed through second level dressage.)
Dr. Kielty's practice specialties center around Sport Horses, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and the management of these horses to keep them at peak performance.
Dr. Kielty is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the Northern California Association of Equine Practitioners, the California Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
After work Dr. Kielty enjoys spending time with her 14 year old twins Peter and Madeleine at the barn and on the hiking trails.
